What can I expect from hiring a professional organizer?

What do you organize?

A different question that explains it a bit better is: WHO do you organize? 
I work with people who want change. I am ready to help those who recognize things could be better in their home or office and need help doing it.   


When do you work?

Free phone assessments are scheduled sometime between Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00.

Consultations or hands on organizing are done on Saturdays.
I do two sessions on Saturday, an 8:00am- 12:00pm or an 1:00pm-5:00pm.  


My house is the worst. I am so embarrassed. Are you sure you can help me?

Yes. Please know that we I am here to help and if I cannot do it personally, I will help find someone who can. Sometimes, situations are very sensitive and difficult and I am respectful of that. Also know, there is no judgement here. I am excited for you as you make positive changes in your life. I did not get into professional organizing to go around and judge people's spaces. You will find me compassionate and excited for you as you take steps to get your space and life under control.   


Do you travel outside of Cache Valley?

Yes but not very far. You will be charged for travel time and fuel.


Do I need to buy anything?

Before you go out and buy bins and containers, let me come and see what your situation is. You may not need to buy anything at all. A lot of the time, I am able to create a functional space with what you already have.

Are you going to make me throw away all my stuff?

No, of course not. I will sort through your things. The belongings that you do not use or want, will be donated/recycled or thrown away. You are responsible for the removal or disposal of those things unless you want to "Fill Our Car" for an extra fee. 


How long does it take to get organized?

There are a several factors that contribute to how long it will take.
Two main factors are how much stuff there is and how quickly you make decisions.
Just a heads up, if your situation involves paperwork that does take longer because of the detailed nature of paperwork.

How much will it cost to hire a professional organizer?

Different organizers charge different rates.

Is my personal information confidential?

Yes it is. I follow the code of ethics outlined by
NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers).


Where are the Before and After Pictures?

I love a good Before and After picture just like everyone. Before and Afters are impressive and can be motivational. However, I have an issue. Being organized is a continuous process. Before and After pictures imply to me that there is an ending to it. Of course, there are milestones and steps along the way. But it is surely not the end.  

Also, I don't want you to compare yourself to others. We are all at different stages in our lives and it doesn't serve you well to say, "OH... at least I am not as bad as that person" or "I am so worse than them, I will never be able to get organized." It doesn't matter what someone else's space looks like. All that matters, is how you feel in your own space and if it is functioning for you. 

If you want, I can take Before and After pictures of your space for you. This can be a great way to remind yourself where you started.  

What is your work style like?

I am honored that you are considering hiring me. I respect and applaud you for letting someone come and help you. You will find that I am a hard worker, honest and reliable. I am here to help you succeed and encourage you in the process.  

Do you specialize in a specific organizing method (like Feng Shui or KonMari)?

No. I emphasize the 3 principles of organizing and feel that it is the same three principles (not the method) that gets you organized. If you want to learn more about this,

Do you promote certain organizing products?

Not really. I don't want my clients to use product as an excuse not to get organized as in, "If only I had that______________, then I would be organized." Product can be beneficial and there are a lot of great organizing products out there but products do not make you organized. You do.
